Guided bicycle tours in Phang Nga district available every Saturday and Sunday.
Riding a bicycle is a very good way to explore the area whilst staying in touch with nature. It is an enjoyable, healthy activity and by far safer than riding a motorbike. The wind that we generate whilst riding our bicycle helps us to cool down.
We have created a few different tours for enthusiastic cyclist to choose from. Kho Khor Khao Island explorer, Khao Lak Discovery, Healthy Hot Springs and turtle sanctuary. All these tours include a well maintained trek 4300 mountain bike (sizes range from 16 up to 21 inches) with 24 (shimano) gears, helmet, cycling computer, water bottle and cage, front and rear lights, bell, mud guards, spare tire plus patching kit in your saddle bag and a pump, plus English, German, Thai speaking tour guide.
Tours.
Khaolak Discovery, half day tour.
This tour is designed to visit some “must see areas” of the Khao Lak district and takes about 4 hours. The profile is pretty easy going, even though there are a few ups and downs on the way to the waterfalls. This tour is especially nice after some rain, since there will be more water feeding the falls.

Departing from Tiffy’s at 8:00 am, our first visit will be the local market, which is taking us over the main road for about 5km north. After a short stop at the fresh market, we turn off the main road inland over unpaved tracks alongside some rubber, oil palm and fruit gardens toward the Chong Fah waterfalls, this takes about 30 minutes. The falls are part of a National Park so there will be a 100 baht entry fees per person. After dismounting from our bikes, we will walk for about 20 minutes through the tropical rain forest and reach the top of the falls. Here we can stop for a refreshing dip in the natural forming pools. On our way back we will visit Phang Nga’s Tsunami Memorial Sculpture as well as the well known police patrol boat 813 before we head back to Tiffy’s. The total distance covered is roughly 20 kilometers.

Healthy Hot Springs, half day tour.
The “Thai Muang Hot Springs” are the only natural mineral hot springs in this area. Bathing in a natural hot spring containing minerals is a very healthy and relaxing activity, so we thought why not combining the hot springs with an equally healthy bicycle tour. The total distance covered on bike is about 35 km including a little detour through the old and charming town of Thai Muang.

 The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel at around 7:30 am from where we drive by car 35 minutes southwards to Thai Muang & then switch to our bicycles. The tour takes us over flat terrain on a fairly quiet concrete road alongside shrimp farms, fields with occasional sightings of water buffalo and swamps containing lotus flowers. As we arrive at the hot springs we will take a shower in order to freshen up before entering the mineral hot water pool for a treatment cycle of maximum 1.5 hours. During the treatment we will have a fresh young coconut and rehydrate ourselves with lots of mineral water before we make our way back to Thai Muang Beach in order to visit the Turtle sanctuary, where we can observe baby-, juvenile and adult sea turtles plus the famous nemo fish before heading back to meet the car for our transfer arriving at your hotel around 2 pm.

Kho Kor Khao Island explorer, half day tour.
Kho Kor Khao Island is a tiny Island about 22 km north of Khao Lak with a pretty flat topography and therefore ideal for easy cycling. The Island features a paved road with hardly any traffic that stretches from one end to the other with lots of pine trees and natural swamps containing lotus flowers.

The tour starts with a pick up from your hotel at around 7:30 am and then we drive by car 25 minutes north to Ban Bang Muang where we take a long tail “ferry” for 5 minutes, to cross over to the Island. Here our cycling trip begins, following the road over flat terrain, visiting abandoned beaches and do a short detour to a shrimp farm before continuing towards the northern end of Kho Kor Khao.
The total distance covered by bike is about 45 km and after roughly three hours we will be back at the harbour to join the “ferry” back over to the mainland of Ban Bang Muang, where our car awaits us for the transfer back to your hotel at/or before 1:00 pm.

Mountain bike description and rental fees.
Rental fees per bicycle are as follows:
1 bike for 1 day: 200 Thb
1 bike for 2 days: 400 Thb or two bikes one day
1 bike for 3 days: + 170 Thb/day or three or more bikes one day
1 bike for 1 week: 1100 Thb or any kind of combination days/bikes
Service includes:
- Brand new, well looked after Trek Mountain bike model 4300 with
24 gears
- Helmet, front & rear lights with environmental friendly rechargeable
batteries
- Bell, Lock, spare tube & tire levers, plus tire repair kit (incl. patches,
glue and sand paper)
- Mileage, Water bottle cage, front & rear mud guard, Seat pack
- Every bicycle will be supplied with a pump

Do's and Don'ts:
- Under no circumstances should our bicycles be driven at the beach,
which is illegal and seriously ruins the bike’s condition
- Use the lock of your bicycle when ever not in use
- Cycling is pretty safe here but remember to wear your helmet and
drive conservative
- Beware when approaching junctions, sometimes cars turn just as
you arrive
- If you rent our bike longer than a week we would like to clean and
grease it for you every week. In order to do so we will supply you
with another bike in exchange
- Beware of dogs, sometimes they bark and follow you, the best
(by my experience) is to stop cycling and get of the bike
- Do drink a lot of water while cycling!  |
